Why use it?
Simply put, it saves time. Normally, it can take three or more clicks to access the full text of articles. EndNote Click reduces this to one step.
Who should use it?
MUHC Staff | McGill Staff, Students & Affiliates | |
On-site | Yes, use EndNote Click. | Yes, use EndNote Click. |
Remotely | No. Do not use EndNote Click. Instead, log in to the library’s proxy for remote access to articles. | Yes, use EndNote Click. |
How does it work?
Once you register with EndNote Click, you will be prompted to choose your institution.
Afterwards, whenever you view an article on PubMed or a journal’s site, EndNote Click will search your institution’s library to verify whether you have access.
If your institution has access to the article:
You will see this icon at the bottom left of the screen:
Once you click View PDF, a new tab will open with the PDF in an EndNote Click viewer (if you are a McGill affiliate working off-campus, you may be asked for your authentication information). From this viewer, you can:
- add the article to a collection (called Locker),
- download the PDF, and
- export the article record to a bibliographic management software (EndNote, Zotero, etc.)
If EndNote Click does not identify institutional access to the article:
You will see this icon:
In this case, you can request the article via our inter-library loan service.
